Home Cafe
About This Spot
Stepping into Home Cafe in Englewood feels like coming home to a familiar, comfortable embrace—a place where the pace slows just enough to savor the morning and the simple joy of a good meal. Tucked right off W Hampden Avenue, this neighborhood breakfast spot carries a warmth that goes beyond its sunlit windows and cozy booths. It’s a local gathering place where regulars are greeted by name and first-timers quickly find themselves at ease in its intimate, unpretentious atmosphere.
The hum of quiet conversations blends with the soft clatter of plates, creating a soundtrack reminiscent of weekend mornings spent catching up over comfort food. The open kitchen’s inviting scents hint at the care poured into every dish—a feeling echoed by the attentive, genuinely welcoming staff who make each visit feel personal.
Breakfast at Home Cafe is an experience of generous portions served with heart. Whether it’s the rich, lovingly smothered burritos filled with fresh avocado and eggs cooked just right, or the warm, perfectly crisp churros that invite sharing, each bite speaks to a kitchen that knows its craft and cares about the community it feeds. The menu strikes a balance between classic American breakfast staples and subtle nods to local flavors, like the smoky green chili and house-made hot sauces that add just the right kick.
There’s a comforting rhythm here—from the early morning rush of folks grabbing a quick burrito on the go to the leisurely Sunday brunch patrons who linger over coffee and chatter. The space itself, while modest, carries an effortless charm; it’s clear that this cafe is less about showmanship and more about creating a space where good food and genuine connections happen naturally.
For those seeking a spot that feels quietly rooted in its community, where welcoming smiles are as much a part of the experience as the skillet of eggs or the humble pancake, Home Cafe offers a steady, heartfelt kind of joy. It’s a little sanctuary of mornings, where the everyday act of breaking bread together reminds you that comfort is often found in the simplest, most thoughtfully prepared moments.

This place is really good and I always feel at home when I am here! The burritos are good if you are in for quick stop and the meals them selves are always very very good!

Visitting from Indiana. Decided to try this place out with my friend for a brunch. I had the rancheros, and he had the breakfast tacos. Fairly priced for the portions you get. Very quaint right off the road. Would recommend to anyone visiting. Food was the bomb. And it came out so fast. Not a single item missed the mark. I ordered a side of chorizo and spread it on the top. Wonderful chef.

Such a cute spot. I’ve been here on several occasions now for breakfast. Their breakfast avocado burrito is so good. The green chili is delicious. Wish I could find a breakfast spot that serves breakfast burritos like this where I live. Definitely worth checking out. Friendly service. Cute decor.

Absolutely fell in LOVE with this quaint little place! Owner was amazingly accommodating! She knew everyone by name that walked through the doors! Food was excellent. Apparently a local favorite since 1955! History of the spot was wonderful to hear about! 10/10 will be back!!

Nice and quick, quality food. The chef is eager to take care of his customers and the place is tidy, clean, and cozy. I look forward to trying all the menu. My first item was a breakfast burrito. Lish!

Nice neighborhood breakfast/lunch cafe. We both ended up getting the same thing eggs, sausage patties, on biscuits and gravy whith homefries. All was really good. Its a small place and have several Mexican dishes. The owners I believe are of Mexican descent.

Food is really excellent. I'm always leery when going to a new place as a trans person when there are no mention of lgbtq, queer or trans folks in any reviews. This place didn't make me afraid at least so that's good. The deer in the headlights greeting followed by short responses was...possibly more indicative of the person behind the counter being the only one working at that exact moment than rudeness but to feel immediately at ease as a trans person I'm going to need a lot more cheer and welcome. The smothered carnivore burrito pretty quickly had me forget about all that though. Freakin' choice. No notes. Chef's kiss. I ate all of it in one sitting and it was generous.
